Welcome to LinguaVille Language Learning and Revision.

LinguaVille is a structured system in line with the National Curriculum and Key Stages set by the Education Departments from the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, India, which also follows the requirements of K-12 learning from within the United States of America.

LinguaVille is set to engage pupils through 4 essential elements: Exercises (found in our School Building), Phrases (located in our Travel Shop), Games (in the Playground) and the 2 Dictionaries, found in our Library.

LinguaVille provides the tools necessary through 48 different modules to help you learn a language properly, step by step, and then through that structure, revise and test for future examinations.

LinguaVille is a comprehensive system. Containing over 7,500 multi-part questions, 4,000 phrases and exercises set in real-life situations to increase conversational skills.

Class1 learning introduces the student to the basics of their target language. Games provide fun, exciting and effective ways to learn. 1,000 flash cards promote image/language association. A 1,000 words and pictures Junior Dictionary and a 20,000 word Main Dictionary with additional verbs increase vocabulary and comprehension.

At the end of every section you are continually assessed to check your understanding whilst gaining trophies to commemorate your achievements.

LinguaVille have developed their unique approach to tuition with “Learn, Try, Test” methodology; Learn the word, sound or phrase, Try it out in the exercise and verbally, then Test your knowledge to complete the learning process and gain Trophies.

Pupils read, write, listen and speak throughout their time in LinguaVille. They are tested on their understanding, comprehension, conversational skills and observations, to enable them to fully learn their target language.

Schools

School teachers also have access to our unique Authoring System – where they can personalise LinguaVille by creating their own tests based on recent activities, days out, trips abroad, international and local events or anything else specific to your school or class.

The Authoring System enables LinguaVille to be wholly tailored to the School's Education requirements.

LinguaVille has over 7,500 multi part exercises and tests that are split across 48 different modules all of which are accompanied by sound.

These Exercises can be found in five levels of learning.

Class1

Class 1 provides you with essential basics in getting started:

Pronunciation
: This module teaches you how to pronounce the letters of the alphabet in the language you wish to learn.

Accented Characters
: Some languages use something called ‘accented characters’ to change the sound of a letter within a word. If your target language uses these, then this section shows you how to pronounce them correctly.

Getting Started
: Your first words – now you’re communicating!

Numbers
: LinguaVille teaches you the words and sounds for the numbers you need to know.

Days of the Week
: Learning the terms for specific days of the week.

Parts of the Day
: Getting more specific about the part of a day you are talking or writing about.

About Meals
: Learning more vocabulary about what various meals are called.

Where?
: Stating where things are with deictics or ‘pointing words'.

There are also links within Class 1 to our Playground to play two games: Parts of the Body and Clothing. All these lessons have sound.

Beginners

The Beginners Level progresses from Class 1. More modules or activities are here to help with your foundation of learning. Building up vocabulary is important, so through a range of modules we provide over 1,000 words to get you started. All the words within this section have both sound and pictures.

Learn
: Words are presented to you in various categories. You simply select the word of your choice in your home language and it is shown in the target language together with a picture.

Try
: This module enables you to attempt the spelling of words by yourself. We show you a picture of the word we want you to guess. When you attempt to spell that word, we will give you the following clues to help you: A green letter is correctly placed within the word; an orange letter is in the word, but incorrectly placed; and a red letter means that the letter you have typed in does not belong in the word

Test
: This module shows you the picture of the word in the same way as the ‘Try’ module, but this time, you’re up against the clock. We will always help you with the answer if you’re stuck, so you can successfully complete the exercise and earn a Trophy for your collection.

Standard, Intermediate and Advanced Levels

This is where you are introduced to modules used extensively within the National Curricula from Australia, Canada, India and the United Kingdom as well as addressing Key Stages from the United States.

There are two options here to choose from first: Exercises or Tests;

The Exercises are a great starting point, as you are allowed two attempts to get the answers to the questions correct, before LinguaVille reveals the correct answer to you if necessary.

The Tests show you the same questions, but the correct answers and your scores will be revealed at the end of the section, making this option more of a challenge.

It is up to you how many questions you attempt to do so you can decide on your own learning speed. If using the School version, a certain number of questions might have been set by your teacher

The Modules

There are seven modules and many of the questions within these modules have more than one part:

Multiple Choice: To increase your vocabulary and to enable you to get used to being asked questions.

Word Order: To build further on your vocabulary, to comprehend how statements are assembled.

Fill-in Words: To develop your understanding of blocks of text yet taking into account the need to find correct words from a selection to complete the text accurately.

Cloze Procedure: Progressing from Fill-in Words you are required to type the correct words into the missing area without any hints or suggestions.

Verbs: To develop your understanding of the importance of verbs in every day conversation and language learning.

Text Adventure: Where a scene is set requiring your developed realisation of the vocabulary used within these passages of text, and selecting an answer based on your understanding.

Dictation: Where we present you with a sentence to write, increasing your confidence in writing in another language.

Scoring

This is how LinguaVille’s Scoring System works:

• You score 10 points for each solution answered correctly on your first attempt.

• If you do not answer correctly the first time, your first choice is crossed out, and you allowed a second attempt.

• You score 5 points for each solution answered correctly on your second attempt.

• If you do not answer correctly on your second attempt, LinguaVille will reveal the correct response.

Teacher Assignments

If you are a School Student and your teacher has assigned you bespoke lessons, a grey SIGNPOST will appear by the doors above.

The signpost is your entry into your tailored sessions based on the five modules of learning.
